Buying your first guitar can be quite a confusing experience with so many options available these days.

Here are three important tips that can help you make the right purchase.

TIP 1

Firstly, look for an ACOUSTIC guitar with ‘cutaway’. Regardless of whether you want to learn pop, rock or even finger-style, these guitars are affordable and a good start for absolute beginners to explore the world of stringed instruments.

​

Acoustic guitars largely come in 5 different sizes. 31 inch & 34 inch for kids aged between 5 to 9 years old. 39 inch & 41 inch would be ideal for adults. 41 inch works best for those with longer fingers.

​

For ease of learning and playing, we would recommend a 39 inch guitar, both for adults and kids above 10 years old.  This is a very important point for absolute beginners.

​

For adults with smaller fingers or if you travel often, you may look for a 36 inch travel/parlor guitar. These, however, are mid-range guitars and usually priced upwards of Rs. 10,000.

Look for a brand that offers 1 to 3 years warranty. These guitars could be priced anywhere between Rs. 4000 to Rs. 10,000.
